Formaat Plus, reinforces foreigners/immigrant youthwork

What?

Formaat Plus strives for a better support and recognition of immigrant youth organisations. We want to provide information, give answers to questions from both existing and start-up organisations and guide them in developing their organisation.

Formaat Plus is the diversity division of Formaat. Formaat is the federation of Flemish youth clubs and currently supports more than 400 youth clubs and various youth organisations throughout Flanders.

How?

How does Formaat Plus work?

Formaat Plus currently guides and supports many immigrant youth organisations. They all differ from each other, however, in a way they are all alike: it is the young people who decide what happens. Formaat Plus is there for and by young people, because we believe in the strength of young people.

The support by Formaat Plus starts with an introductory meeting. Someone from the Formaat Plus team visits your organisation. The intention is for us to get to know your association and organisation better and to introduce ourselves as well as to look at what we can do for your organisation. Should there be specific questions or problems, we try a support trajectory that is tailored to your organisation. We stipple this trajectory together with you.

 For and by the youth

Formaat Plus focuses on youth organisations that organise meetings and activities for and by the youth. In a youth organisation you meet other young people, you make friends and you feel at home. Together you form a group, learn how to work together as well as to learn from each other ... Not like in school, but in another, fun way of learning. Formaat Plus has a lot to offer you:

• Information: As an organisation you need a lot of information. What is the associations legislation like? Which permits do you have to apply for as an organisation? Format Plus can help your organisation by giving specific information and the necessary manuals.

• Training: Interested in training? Format Plus organises specific training on funding and association law. In addition, you can also follow the training courses offered by Formaat (sound, light technicians ...).

• Guidance tailored to your needs: Each organisation is different and has different questions. Formaat Plus provides answers to your questions.

•  Regional Meeting: At these meetings you get in contact with other organisations, you learn to work with them and it’s also a chance to extend your network. You also get the opportunity to exchange views and share experiences  with other organisations about certain topics.

• Grants: We show your organisation the way around the grant regulations and we give you tips on preparing a grant application.

• Premises: not easy to get and expensive to maintain. We can help you in your quest for finding premises and defend your interests.

• Volunteers: The organisation relies on volunteers, the staff are volunteers. It is not always easy to recruit volunteers, just as well as retaining and motivating them. We can help your organisation to find, to recruit and to motivate volunteers.

 • Activities: The organisation of activities requires a lot of ideas, time and planning. We can assist you in the planning and organising of activities. 

Formaat Plus strengthens the quest for diversity and wants to:

-    support and guide foreign youth organisations;

-    strive for a better recognition of foreign youth organisations;

-    actively work on diversity and openness in the youth clubs.
